Join us on this splendid tour of Germany's fairy tales and famous spas. Explore Hamburg at night and on a harbor cruise. Experience bustling Berlin and Potsdam's Sanssouci Palace. Visit Martin Luther's Wittenberg and a workshop of Meissen porcelain. Enjoy Dresden's restored bastion of culture and end your journey in Weimar, for many years the seat of literature and arts. A side trip and on request includes a visit at Buchenwald's former death camp.
DAY 01 Frankfurt - transfer to Offenbach
A warm welcome awaits you by your Tour director upon arrival Frankfurt Airport, following by an orientation drive of Frankfurt's city and birthplace of poet Goethe. Then transfer to nearby Offenbach for overnight, Germany's center for leather goods. Join us this evening for a welcome cocktail at the hotel (1 overnight at Hotel Accor).
DAY 02 Bad Homburg - Bad Hersfeld - Kassel
Our morning route takes us first to Bad Homburg at the foot of the Taunus woodlands, one of Germany's most famous spa regions. See its beautiful Kurpark, the Casino and White Tower Castle of the 13th century. Continue to its next spa and resort Bad Hersfeld for a lunch break. An orientation drive of this charming town will show you the ruins of its Abbey, dating back to the 11th century where Drama Festivals take place every summer. Finally, and during the afternoon arrive at Kassel, home of the Brothers Grimm's Tales. Upon freshen up at your hotel, the city tour will show the Wilhelmshoehe with its huge castle park, beautiful fountains, artificial water falls and the Chateau, where Napoleon III was interned 1871 after the Battle at Sedan. Also of much interest will be the gigantic Hercules Monument, even taller in size then the Nelson Statue in London.

DAY 03 Kassel - Hamelin - Hanover - Hamburg
The morning drive leads north on the German autobahn to Hamelin (Hameln), built on the bank of the Weser River. Known as the city of Robert Browning's the Pied Piper of Hamelin, where in the 13th century someone promised to free the town of rats. The sightseeing shows old burgher houses with decorated gables, half-timbered mansions of typical local Renaissance style and the Town Hall of the early 17th century, formerly the Marriage House used for burgher's weddings. Time for a lunch break and on to Hamburg by way of Hanover with an orientation tour, capital of Lower Saxony and place of the annual International Fair. Arriving Hamburg in time for dinner at its amusement quarter St. Pauli, where bars, dance halls and numerous restaurants line the colorful illuminated Reeperbahn.

DAY 04 Hamburg - Berlin
A morning sightseeing of this old Hanseatic City on the River Elbe and one of the largest ports in Europe includes a drive around the Inner Alster River, to view its skyline of church spires. You stop at the Rathausmarkt, dominated by the magnificent City Hall with its tall clock tower, built in Renaissance style. Time left to browse around perhaps at the nearby landingstage of Jungfernstieg with elegant shops and its well-known Alsterpavillon-Cafe. As a highlight of today you take a cruise of Hamburg's bustling harbor. Following a lunch break we leave this city, also called the "Venice of the North" and stop en route at Neuruppin amidst a lovely lake district, before we head for Germany's capital Berlin for dinner and overnight.

DAY 05 Berlin - Potsdam
Your city tour of the former Hohenzollern Electors starts with a drive on the sweeping avenue "Unter den Linden", passing the Brandenburg Gate with a photo stop, along the Reichstag building which now houses the German Parliament. We stop at Checkpoint Charlie, up to 1989 the crossing point between East and West. And see the ruined Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedaechtniskirche, kept as a reminder of World War II destruction. Some later, arrive at Kurfuerstendamm to browse around on this prestigious street with miles of cafes, restaurants, art galleries, boutiques, antique shops, night clubs and much more. Following your lunch break the tour continues to Potsdam to visit its famous Sanssouci Palace, built 1745 during the period of Friedrich the Great. The inside of this former summer residence displays a splendid collection of art treasures. Nearby, you will also visit the attractive park of Cecilienhof, where the Potsdam Agreement was signed 1945. During the later afternoon return to your hotel in Berlin.

DAY 06 Berlin - Wittenberg - Meissen - Dresden
After a good breakfast again we leave Berlin this morning for Wittenberg, which recalls the life and work of reformer Martin Luther. You will visit the Schlosskirche, where he nailed on a gate his 95 Theses in 1517 challenging the Catholic Church. Then on to small town Meissen, world-known for its unique porcelain. Watch a workshop demonstration and visit its museum with an outstanding collection of Meissen porcelain. Ample time for shopping or browsing before we continue our drive to Dresden, which has rebuilt again much of its pre-World War II beauty.

DAY 07 Dresden - Buchenwald/Weimar
The sightseeing tour of Dresden will show you the old and new quarter of the city, remains of the Church of our Lady, the "Kreuzkirche" of Baroque style, the historic district of "Neumarkt" and its famous and restored opera house "Semperoper" which once saw premiers of Richard Wagner and Strauss. You visit the Paintings Gallery of its Baroque Palace "Zwinger" with great masterpieces of Rubens, Tintoretto, Rembrandt and many others. Following a break we leave Dresden for Weimar by way Buchenwald, to visit one of Germany's former concentration camps, today a memorial of World War II's horror. Later, arriving at nearby Weimar, home of famous personalities like Lucas Cranach, Bach, Liszt, Goethe and Schiller. Before hotel check-in an orientation drive will provide you with impressions of a residential atmosphere of former German princes. It was here too, that the first but shortlived Weimar Republic was founded in 1919 by the German National Assembly. The farewell dinner tonight will be a festive occasion with a surprise drawing of fancy goods everyone winning a present!

DAY 08 Weimar - Last day of tour
During the morning we leave Weimar for our transfer back to Frankfurt Airport. It´s time now to bid "Auf Wiedersehen" before you take off for home or just extend your stay with us for additional destinations in Europe.
