Enjoy with us a leisure tour of charming Austria and hospitable Hungary with half or full day excursions all out of the same hotel base! Explore the cultural heritage of Austria's capital Vienna and visit among other great places magnificent Schoenbrunn Palace. Travel the outer skirts and discover the beautiful Vienna Woods with its lovely villages. You participate in a day excursion driving through the country of Hungary that looks back to an eventful past. Visit its capital Budapest, including all landmarks and highlights and join us on a most scenic Danube River cruise from Melk to Krems in Austria, passing medieval towns, vineyards and castles crowning hills...!
DAY 01 Vienna
A warm welcome awaits you upon arrival airport by your Tour Director. Transfer to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. - Join us tonight for a welcome reception and brief orientation.
(5 overnights at Hotel Dorint).
DAY 02 Vienna – CSS&Schoenbrunn Palace
The morning city tour of Vienna starts with a visit at spectacular Schoenbrunn Palace, modified to its present structure by Empress Maria Theresa. You will visit some of the 1.400 rooms and apartments, that show a variety of sumptuously furnished rooms in Baroque and Rococo style, magnificent chandeliers, beautiful paintings, fine lacquer-works from Asia, the Hall of Mirror where small boy Mozart played for the Empress - and or other apartments depending on various inside tours you are temporal scheduled. - Outside, enjoy a superb view from the Gloriette monument of its park and gardens with statues and gracious fountains. - Return to the city for a lunch break and continue your sightseeing with a drive on the Ring Strasse to view great buildings such as the Opera House, the Maria Theresa Monument, museum buildings, the Parliament and City Hall and the former imperial palace Hofburg, a complex of buildings from the 13th century and home of the famous Spanish Riding School. You visit St. Stephen's Cathedral with a fine altarpiece of the 15th century, various busts of Saints, including the one of St. Stephen - and much more. The tour ends at famous Hotel-Cafe Sacher and why not try here perhaps a piece of tasty Sachertorte. - The rest of the afternoon is yours.

DAY 03 Excursion: Vienna Woods
A beautiful half day excursion is waiting this morning first with a drive to Heiligenkreuz to visit its lovely town and worth-seeing Abbey of the Holy Cross. This 12th century church with an impressive arcaded courtyard and column of redmarble was home of the Cistercian monks for many centuries. Continue to small town Mayerling to view here a convent, used as a former imperial hunting-lodge where Archduke Rudolf and son of Austria's Emperor Franz-Josef decided to commit suicide with his loved one in 1889. - Then it's on to the old town and spa resort Baden where even thousands of ears ago Romans and other visitors took advantage here of hot springs gushing forth at a temperature of about 38° C. - Following a lunch break the route leads up to the KahlenbergHeights with a stop to be invited for a coffee or tea to enjoy from its restaurant terrace a marvelous view of Vienna, the woods and its wine land. - The rest of the afternoon is at your complete disposal in the city of Vienna.

DAY 04 Excursion: Budapest/Hungary
Today enjoy with us a day tour Hungary and its historic capital Budapest. After a short stop at the border you arrive at Gyoer, dominated by the town's oldest Episcopal Cathedral from the 11th century and view the Bishop's Palace and its garden before we continue to Budapest, first for a lunch break. - The city, divided by the Danube river in two parts of Buda and Pest is connected by several bridges. You will see the Parliament building in neo-Gothic style, built during the late 19th century right at the bank of Danube River and outside lined with many statues. Visit St. Stephen's Basilica, a huge church which provides space for about 8.000 visitors. See the impressive interior and the statue of St. Stephen, first King of Hungary. You cross the Danube River on the Chain Bridge for the city part of Buda and drive up the Castle Hill to visit the old town center and see restored walls, arches and buildings of all classic architecture. Admire a Roman watchtower at Fishermen's Bastion and the Coronation Church from the 13th century in which Hungary's Kings Franz-Josef and Karl were crowned. Finally and from the Gellert Hill with its Citadel enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the city, of all its Danube bridges and of boat shaped Margaret Island, known for its beautiful flowers and garden. - Ample time is yours now to shop or browse around before this day excursion leads back again to Vienna.

DAY 05 Excursion: Melk for a Danube River Cruise
During the morning you are booked on a most scenic Danube River cruise, starting with a visit of the 18th century Abbey Church dominating the lovely town of Melk and its wine growing country. The inside of this famous Benedictine Abbey will show statues of Apostles and the patron of the church, golden ornaments, frescos and great paintings. - Then step on board for an unforgettable Danube River cruise of this most beautiful Wachau region, passing vineyards, charming villages and ancient castle ruins crowning hills. - Later, return to Vienna and spend the afternoon at your leisure. - Tonight, join us for dinner at a typical Heurigen-Restaurant in the wine village of Grinzing with local entertainment.

DAY 06 Vienna – Last day of tour
Following breakfast it's time to bid farewell to a most scenic tour of Austria andHungary. Transfer to the airport and say good-bye to the Old World – or why not just extend your stay with us for a further destination...!
