DAY 01 Frankfurt - transfer to Offenbach
A warm welcome awaits you by your Tour Director upon arrival Frankfurt Airport. - An orientation drive of Frankfurt's city is following before you transfer to nearby Offenbach for a cocktail reception. - Rest of the day is at your leisure in Offenbach, Germany's capital for leather goods (1 overnight at Hotel Accor).
DAY 02 Offenbach - Rhine River Cruise - Moselle Valley - Wuerzburg
The morning drive takes you first to the old Rhine town Ruedesheim, dominated by a fortified castle. Walk the charming street Drosselgasse lined with picturesque burgher houses and wine bars. - Board here the most popular Rhine River cruise, passing vineyards, lovely towns on both sides and castles atop the hills. You glide along the legendary Loreley Rock where mermaids are said to have lured sailors to their death...! Disembark at St. Goarshausen and travel to Cochem amidst the Moselle River Valley and its famous wine region. Spend your lunch break here before we continue to Wuerzburg on the River Main with an orientation drive and home of the great woodcarver Tilman Riemenschneider. You view the landmark Residenz, one of Germany's biggest Baroque palaces from the 18th century and see its amazing Cathedral built during the 11th century. Pass the old Main River Bridge adorned with twelve Baroque statues and arrive your hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 03 Rothenburg/Romantic Road - Munich
A fascinating morning tour leads you to Germany's much visited Romantic Road with our first stop at medieval Rothenburg on the River Tauber surrounded by ramparts and watch towers still preserved in its style since the 17th century. On a walking tour you will see the beautiful Town Hall, at the market square the Herrentrinkstube which shows mechanical figures, St. James Church with its altar, a masterpiece of Riemenschneider and admire an old restaurant building Baumeisterhaus of 1596. - Time for a lunch break, shopping or browsing before our today's route continues to Bavaria's capital Munich.

DAY 04 Munich
You start your day with a city sightseeing of Munich's old center to stop at Marienplatz to see its City Hall and famous Glockenspiel. Visit imposing Church of our Lady, built in Gothic style around 1470 and see the inside of the infamous Hofbraeuhaus. Stop at the Olympic Stadium with a seating for 80.000 visitors and which is covered by an unique tent roof construction. You view the Nymphenburg Palace amidst a flower-filled park and visit its Royal Horse Carriage Museum with a splendid display of coaches, sedan-chairs, the coronation coach of Emperor Karl VII and magnificent sledges used by eccentric King Ludwig II. - The following afternoon is at your disposal. -Tonight join us for dinner with local music and Bavarian folklore entertainment.

DAY 05 Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Innsbruck - Oberammergau
Today's scenic day tour excursion leads south right into the Bavarian Alps to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a known winter sports and health resort amidst a breathtaking mountain scenery. See its Parish Church of the 15th century with remains of wall paintings and enjoy from the near Eibsee Station a marvelous view of Germany's highest mountain Zugspitze. - Your drive continues along Austria's impressive mountain massifs Wetterstein and Karwendel to Tyrol's capital Innsbruck. Enjoy from the city's main street an imposing view of the northern alpine chain rising up to about 8.000 feet. From here it takes a few walking minutes to arrive its pedestrian zone and Golden Dachl, a most charming mansion with a gilded copper roof, built around 1500 for Emperor Maximilian I. to celebrate his wedding. - You will also visit the Hofkirche, a magnificent mausoleum built for the same Emperor with 28 oversized bronze statues of his ancestors and the one of famous ruler King Arthur of England. -After a lunch break we travel to small town of Rattenberg on the lovely Inn River to join a workshop demonstration of Austria's famous modeled and engraved glassware. -We then return by way of Oberammergau in Bavaria with a stop to admire its beautiful painted burgher houses and the Passion Play Theater that holds space for about 5.000 spectators. - Time left for strolling at inviting woodcarving shops before we drive back to Munich.

DAY 06 Munich - Salzburg - The Sound of Music Country
Your morning drive takes you on the German autobahn by way of Bavaria's largest lake Chiemsee to the border of Austria and to Salzburg. Dominated by its 11th century fortress Hohensalzburg, truly one of Europe's most loved cities. - At first, an orientation drive pass the Horse Trough, used for the archbishop's stables 300 years ago and drive along the Salzburg Festival buildings to Mirabell Gardens with a stop to view remains of a luxurious mansion from the 17th century. - Within the old center of Salzburg an easy walk includes the lively Getreidegasse to see Mozart's birthplace house number 9, the Domplatz and its great Cathedral of 1655, you view the Residenz of the former archbishops and site where Emperors Franz-Josef, Wilhelm I and Napoleon III met in 1871 after the battle of Sedan. - Time for lunch is yours now before we continue to Austria's most picturesque Salzkammergut and lake district Mondsee. You visit here its former Abbey built in Baroque style, now a Parish church since 1740 and used for the wedding scene when making the beautiful film "The Sound of Music". Take some postcards with you before we return to the city of Salzburg in time for dinner and overnight.

DAY 07 Salzburg - Danube River Cruise - Vienna
We leave beautiful Salzburg this morning and journey further eastwards into Austria by way of Linz and with a stop at St. Florian to see its lovely Abbey church and famous Anton Bruckner organ. - Continue to its next and most impressive Abbey, the one in Melk overlooking the Danube River. With its Baroque construction of 1702 the Abbey Church is surrounded by several buildings, still operated by Benedictine monks. See the inside of the Abbey Stiftskirche with golden ornaments, frescos, great paintings, statues of the Apostles and much more. - Then step on board for a Danube River cruise and let Wachau's well-known wine region, charming villages and castles ruins passing by while perhaps having your lunch this time on the ship. - You disembark at Krems and soon later arrive at today's destination Vienna, Austria's capital and for centuries ruled by the Habsburg Emperors.

DAY 08 Vienna
The morning city tour starts with a visit at spectacular Schoenbrunn Palace, modified to its present form by Empress Maria Theresa. You will visit some of the 1.400 rooms and apartments, that show a variety of magnificent chandeliers, beautiful paintings, fine lacquer-works from Asia, apartments sumptuously furnished in Baroque and Rococo style, the Hall of Mirrors where small boy Mozart played for the Empress - and or other rooms depending on various inside tours you are temporal scheduled. -Outside, enjoy a superb view from the Gloriette monument of its park and gardens with statues and gracious fountains. - Return to the city center for lunch break and continue your sightseeing with a drive on one of Vienna's main streets The Ring to see great buildings such as Opera House, monuments of the poets Goethe and Schiller, Maria Theresa Memorial, the Mozart and Beethoven House, the museum buildings of Art and History and of Natural Science, the Parliament, City Hall, University and the huge Hofburg and former imperial palace, a complex of buildings from the 13th century and home of the famous Spanish Riding School. Return to your starting point and walk over to Vienna's landmark and mighty St. Stephen's Cathedral. Among others the interior shows a fine decorated altarpiece of the 15th century, 16th century carved stone pulpit, a tomb of Emperor Friedrich III, admire various busts of Saints, including the one of St. Stephen, sculptured figures, carved wood-panels, and much more. - Finally, your tour ends at world-famous Hotel-Cafe Sacher to try here perhaps a piece of tasty Sachertorte. - Rest of the afternoon is yours.

DAY 09 Excursion: Vienna Woods & Evening at Grinzing
A beautiful half day excursion is waiting this morning with a drive to small town Mayerling to view a convent, used as a former imperial hunting-lodge where Archduke Rudolf and son of Emperor Franz-Josef decided to commit suicide with its loved one Maria Vetsera in 1889. - Going up the Kahlenberg Heights you are invited for a coffee or tea to enjoy from its restaurant-terrace a beautiful view over Vienna, its woods and vineyards. -Following this break we return to the city and spend the afternoon at leisure. - Your dinner tonight will be taken at a typical Heurigen-Restaurant in the wine village of Grinzing with local entertainment. As a surprise there will be a drawing for handmade gifts from Bavaria and Austria with every-one winning a valuable present. We wish this last evening to be the most enjoyable one!

DAY 10 Vienna - Last day of tour
After breakfast it's time to say good-bye to the most panoramic journey through Bavaria and Austria while you transfer to the airport. - Say "Auf Wiedersehen" to Vienna and to your Tour Director before you take off for your return flight.
