Country Life & Amber
4.5 hours
On your way from Warnemuende to Klockenhagen there will be a first stop at a farmer's Barn, which is a settlement of craftsmen selling pottery, home-made goods as honey or delicious juice and clothing.
Then you drive on to the Klockenhagen Heritage Museum. It offers at present 17 examples of rural buildings typical of this area. These 200-300-year-old thatched farm houses, cottages and barns lend the open-air exhibition a genuine charm. Experience first hand the rural life of former times. A collection of farm animals love to be admired and even petted. You can also see one of the last preserved windmills in Mecklenburg.
Leaving Klockenhagen, a short drive will take you to Ribnitz-Damgarten and the German Amber Museum. There is no better place in North Germany where you can see such an outstanding selection of amber, with stunning inclusions of plants or insects preserved inside the „Gold of the Sea”. But it exhibits not only the earth-historical development of amber at all. You are personal invited to try your hands processing a piece of amber!
